YOU MIGHT FEEL AWKWARD, BUT I'LL SUPPORT YOU

If you're like most couples, this will be your first time in front of a camera with a professional photographer. It's normal to feel weird, awkward or unsure of what to do with your hands. I get it—there's a reason I stay behind the camera. That being said, I always come ready with ice breakers and questions, to put you at ease and get you laughing and connecting. Hopefully, you'll forget I'm even there. While I'm totally against posed or contrived images (candid all the way, please), if you need some guidance on where to look or how to stand, I've got your back.

YOU MIGHT WALK A LONG WAY

Most couple sessions happen somewhere in the natural environment—a park, a beach, bushland. Depending on where you choose, we may have to walk a substantial distance to find a variety of backdrops or chase the natural light. I go into way more depth on this topic in chapter 5—the wardrobe guide—but in short, you'll want to wear practical clothing and a choose location you'll be physically able to handle.

IT MIGHT TAKE A WHILE

Most Couple Sessions take anywhere between 1-1.5 hours—trust me, your cheeks can get sore. But on top of that, there's also driving time, finding a park and locating each other, all of which can take an entire morning or afternoon. Try not to schedule any important events before or after your shoot. You don't need the stress of having to rush off anywhere. Even better, why not make a day of it? More on that in chapter 6.

You'LL HAVE A LOT OF FUN

This is such a unique opportunity to have a huge amount of fun. Be a little selfish, wear your favourite outfit, and embrace the wonder that is you and your love story. I'm here for all of it! On a very serious note, having fun is my number one priority. No excuses.
